NFL Week #8 - 2013

Last week didn't produce the results I was looking for.  I only manged to get 8 wins, which now has me sitting at a 66-41 record.  The injuries keep piling up for teams and game winners aren't as clear cut as they could have been.

Week #8 is here!  Let's get it on!

Panthers at Buccanneers (+6.5) - The Pick: Panthers
Carolina goes up against the winless Bucs and keeps them winless with their 1st year QB and backup RB.

49ers at Jaguars (+16.5) - The Pick: 49ers
SF smashes at Jacksonville.  Look for them to cover the spread.

Dolphins at Patriots (-6.5) - The Pick: Patriots
Gronk opens up this offense for other players.  I like NE going forward.

Cowboys at Lions (-3.5) - The Pick: Lions
Detroit hosts the banged up cowboys.  I could see this game going either way.  Look for a close game and winner is decided by turnovers.

Browns at Chiefs (-7.5) - The Pick: Chiefs
Cleveland is on their 3rd QB.  Game is in Arrowhead, loudest stadium in the NFL.

Giants at Eagles (-5.5) - The Pick: Eagles
Vick is back for Philly.  Their offense gets back on track this week.

Bills at Saints (-10.5) - The Pick: Saints
The score might be a little closer if Graham doesn't play.  But don't expect it to be that close.

Steelers at Raiders (+2.5) - The Pick: Steelers
Another tough pick as the Steelers have been looking terrible.  But, I favor a Dick Lebeau defense against a young QB any day of the week.

Jets at Bengals (-6.5) - The Pick: Bengals
This will be a slugfest of two of the top defenses.  This one comes down to turnovers as well, which Bengals may have the advantage.

Falcons at Cardinals (-2.5) - The Pick: Falcons
If Carson Palmer can even make it 1 game without throwing an INT, they have a chance.  I still like Atlanta to come away with the win.

Redskins at Broncos (-13.5) - The Pick: Broncos
Two heavy weight offenses collide.  Denver's defense shows up and slows Washington enough to win.

Packers at Vikings (+8.5) - The Pick: Packers
Minnesota is back to Ponder?  Defense looking shakey off their loss to New York.  Short week.  Oh yeah, they play Green Bay too.

Seahawks at Rams (+10.5) - The Pick: Seahawks
St. Louis defense is still there, but their offense is a little... lacking... with new starter Clemens.  Look for the hawks to embarrass them on primetime.

NFL Week #7 - 2013

Upcoming is week #7.  Cruising through the list, we have some nice looking matchups.

11-4 on last week's picks.  Two of the picks hurt, Chargers and Panthers both pulling pretty nice upsets on me.

Last week put me at 58-34 on the year.

Let's get it on!

Seahawks at Cardinals (+6.5) - The Pick: Seahawks
Seattle cruises on the short week against a banged up Cardinals defense that could be without Campbell.

Patriots at Jets (+4.5) - The Pick: Patriots
This pick is a little dicey for me and banged up New England.  If Gronk plays, and plays well, they win no question.  They could be without Amendola.  The Jets defense is looking good.

Buccaneers at Falcons (-7.5) - The Pick: Falcons
Falcons at home, I like.  Rookie QB coming in, I like.

Bills at Dolphins (-7.5) - The Pick: Dolphins
Stevie Johnson is back, but who is throwing to him?  I'll take Miami at home because I'm not "in with flynn".

Bengals at Lions (-2.5) - The Pick: Lions
Weapons vs. Weapons.  I love the offenses of both teams.  This was another tough one.  The winner is whichever defense shows up, naturally.

Cowboys at Eagles (-2.5) - The Pick: Eagles
No Murry, possibly no Ware.  I'll fly with the Eagles.

Chargers at Jaguars (+9.5) - The Pick: Chargers
Easy pick.  Chargers looked brilliant against the Colts.  Hopefully they don't look past the Jaguars.

Rams at Panthers (-6.5) - The Pick: Panthers
Interesting matchup here.  Last week we saw the Rams roll the Texans as well as the Panthers roll the Vikes.  This game comes down to who gets off to the fastest start.

Bears at Redskins (-0.5) - The Pick: Bears
I'm not a fan of this line.  I pick the Bears to not only cover, but upset the defensively challenged Redskins.

49ers at Titans (+4.5) - The Pick: 49ers
Titans D didn't look too bad last week.  The 49ers will be another true challenge.

Ravens at Steelers (-2.5) - The Pick: Ravens
Baltimore goes into the Steel City and comes away with the win.  Both teams are coming off defensive slug-fests and this will be another.

Browns at Packers (-10.5) - The Pick: Packers
Largest spread of the week.  Green Bay rolls at home in the frozen tundra.

Texans at Chiefs (-6.5) - The Pick: Chiefs
Houston's defense has been terrible.  Houston's quarterbacks have been terrible.  That doesn't look well against a Chief's offense who doesn't turn the ball over and a Chief's defense that has looked pretty good.  Did I mention this game is at Arrowhead?

Broncos at Colts (+6.5) - The Pick: Broncos
Manning heads back into his old stomping ground and lets the Colts know who is the best QB in the league and who was responsible for two of their Super Bowl births.

Vikings at Giants (-3.5) - The Pick: Giants
Will we see Freeman for the Vikes?  All sources are pointing to yes.  Look for AD to pound the ball but Freeman to make mistakes as he is still taking over the system.  Giants roll the Vikes and get their first win of the season.

*Friendly reminder with spreads that the home team is automatically favored by 3 points.

NFL Week #6 - 2013

Heading into NFL Week #6 I am sitting at a decent 47-30 record.  A few surprise teams (Giants, Falcons, Steelers) led to my early picks being negated, but it will only get better from here.

Week #6, it's on like Donkey Kong!

GIANTS vs. BEARS (-9) : The Pick - Bears
The Giants travel to the windy city and come away with another "L".  The Bears have too many weapons, and the Giants have too many injuries, aren't getting pressure on the D-Line, and the Secondary is playing well below what is expected.

PACKERS (-3) vs. RAVENS: The Pick - Packers
With Clay Matthews ruled out for the next 4 weeks, this pick was a little harder than it would have been. The Pack look to keep things rolling after they punted the crippled Lions last week.

BENGALS (-9) vs. BILLS: The Pick - Bengals
I see this line as being a little surprising as I do not see the Bengals being 12 point favorites above the Bills (keeping in mind that automatic 3 points given to home teams).  To be honest, I'm not sure what to think of the Bengals, beating the Patriots and Packers, but losing to the Hoyers, I mean the Browns.  I still go with the Bengals, I just don't look for them to cover.

LIONS (-2.5) vs. BROWNS: The Pick - Lions
Even possibly without Megatron, I still like the Lions in this matchup.  Weeden will be horizontal, a lot.

RAMS vs. TEXANS (-9): The Pick - Texans
Look for Matt Schuab to NOT throw a Pick-6 this week, hosting St. Louis.  We will actually see the real Texans this week, led by Foster and Tate, and not the Schuab passing Texans we have seen as of late.

RAIDERS vs. CHIEFS (-9.5): The Pick - Chiefs
The Chiefs keep surprising everyone, including me, and this bus doesn't stop this week either.  Look for the defense and offense to keep clicking as the Chiefs roll the Raiders.

PANTHERS vs. VIKINGS (-3): The Pick - Vikings
AD looks takes his anger out on the Panthers.  Prayers go out to the Peterson family.

STEELERS vs. JETS (-3): The Pick - Steelers
The Steelers want their ping pong and arcades back in the locker room.  They go into New York and get their first win of the season, riding their earlier injured stars in RB Bell and TE Miller.

EAGLES (-1.5) vs. BUCCANEERS: The Pick - Eagles
The Bucs are a mess.  I take the Eagles to win and more than cover.  I'm a fan of Nick Foles, if Vick doesn't suit up.  Look for the Eagles to get back to .500.

JAGUARS vs. BRONCOS (-27): The Pick - Broncos
In the largest point spread in NFL history, I would think it would almost be worth starting Brock Osweiler on a fantasy team (almost).  Peyton Manning will come in, get his touchdowns, and be out of the game at halftime.  About the same time as the Jaguars team will be out of the game.

TITANS vs. SEAHAWKS (-14): The Pick - Seahawks
Seattle hasn't lost a home game since 2011 and they keep it rolling this week against backup QB Fitzpatrick.

SAINTS vs. PATRIOTS (-1): The Pick - Saints
No Wilfork and no Gronk means No-Problem for the Saints.  Expect the Patriots to double TE Graham, but the Saints counterattack with their other weapons.

CARDINALS vs. 49ERS (-11.5): The Pick - 49ers
I'm taking the Cardinals to cover, but the 49ers look to be too much of a match for the pass-happy Cards.

REDSKINS vs. COWBOYS (-6): The Pick - Cowboys
The Cowboys keep things rolling after matching punches and nearly coming away with a victory against the Broncos last week.  Thier Kiffin defense shapes up a bit and keep the Redskins under 51 points.

COLTS (-1.5) vs. CHARGERS: The Pick - Colts
Beating the Seahawks last week means you are 4.5 point favorite on the road the next week? (keeping in mind that automatic 3 points for the home team in spreads again).  Look for the Colts to win and cover on a Monday night shootout.
